There is still much that is stressful, unpredictable, potentially explosive and very intense in the psychic climate that we are all weathering at this time. But the Taurean core of the month has a mixture of tough Saturn aspects (oppositions to Saturn) and also great aspects to many of these big players - from the Sun and Mercury to Pluto in Capricorn; to Jupiter in Cancer, and Neptune in Pisces.
Yet the chart is pierced by oppositions from the Sun, Mercury and Moon to Saturn in Scorpio. Oppositions to Saturn often represent the experience of hitting brick walls head-on, which often seems to come from others, or from outside of ourselves. Saturn makes for a tough grinding climate, but one in which some very strong alchemical processes are taking place simultaneously. When Saturn is strong in these hard aspects, the difficulties are in meeting lots of resistance, obstacles, hurdles and challenges to a freer flowing energy.
On a sign level, Taurus is the kind of energy that is very much about hands-on dealing with the here and now reality. Traditionally, it is an energy that is not too concerned about the deeper psychological and, to a certain extent, spiritual aspects of life. Taurus can still be an innately spiritual energy, but is more concerned with the grounding and manifestation of energy in the world. Saturn in Scorpio on the other hand has us facing our shadows and those parts of us that are stunted or locked up in old emotional patterns.
This is part of the difficulty of the month - it is not just about facing the outer obstacles to progress, but about having our inner obstacles reflected back to us. So how do we deal with this?
Firstly, it is important not to push. Taurus' Bull energy is basically stubborn and in relation to a brick wall, it will want to go at it, to try and break through, whereas if you do this with Saturn, you damage yourself in some ways and make everything harder. Secondly, when you cannot go directly ahead, look sideways to see where there is positive movement.
The aspects from the Sun to Jupiter, Neptune, and Pluto offer opportunities of better energy flow, while the main game has been slowed up. With trining Pluto it is about getting confluent with personal transformative processes; when your stuff's up, you work it.
With Jupiter it's about opening to grace, finding the energy lines that are expansive and open to growth, particularly around looking after yourself and your emotional needs, and caring for others.
This includes conscious learning to do with relationship with the inner child, the feminine within oneself and, in a gentle way, to do with understanding the sacred feminine and the processes of transformation that come with these parts of self.
With good aspects to Neptune, it is about using spiritual practices, meditations, prayer and visualisations. When you can't go practically and physically forward in your life, you can work with energising your vision, as well as opening up to more and more information from subtler sources.
So these are the more fruitful avenues during the month. Now fortunately, Jupiter is in good aspect to Saturn by trine, which strengthens as the month goes on. Trines between Jupiter and Saturn are fabulous in the sense that we can provide a balance between these two seemingly oppositional energies. We are able to combine the focusing, disciplined energies of Saturn with the Jupiterian urge to expand and to create space for positive growth and for grace to flow. It's that old self effort versus grace balance and the potential for this balance gets stronger as we go through the month.
So while initially (in the first half of the month at least) Saturn is going to be in his harder forms, this will soften as the month goes on. Progressively, we can become more effective.
This is such a month of tough aspects as well as very, very good aspects. Alongside the Grand Cross is also a T-Square from the Sun to Black Moon/Lilith in Leo in one corner and Psyche/Persephone in Aquarius in the other. The Lilith/Black Moon end of the spectrum has to deal with distorted, enraged forms of the Great Mother. This represents (demands even) an alchemical necessity that we face residues inside ourselves that in their unhealed form are highly contaminated and self sabotaging. When worked well and deeply, they can be unbelievably transformative in every aspect of our lives.
The beauty of the month then lies in the opportunities provided by having very difficult aspects and very good aspects operating simultaneously. It is another intense month, so take very good care of yourself with quality emotional, physical and spiritual nurturing.
